The Aloha Theatre presents “The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition,” opening at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, and will run for three weekends, closing on Sunday, June 2.
Based on the beloved cartoon, “SpongeBob” is a creative and joyful take on life under the sea. When Bikini Bottom is threatened by an impending volcanic eruption, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save their town. Heroes rise up, villains fall, and bubbles pop in this eccentric and original musical. Don’t miss the chance to spend an hour with SpongeBob, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, Squidward, and many other fan favorites.
This production is directed by Brett McCardle with vocal direction by Ryan Leinbach and choreography by Christian Aragon and Harli Meech. Kim Woods serves as stage manager.
This is a junior production which means that all the performers are young people and students from right here in our community. Brenner Upchurch takes on the title role of SpongeBob with Kendall Haddock at his side as Patrick Star. Scarlette Burnham plays Sandy Cheeks. Chayton Martinez plays the evil Plankton with Scarlett White stepping in as his computer wife, Karen. Squidward is brought to life by Calvin Seipel. Aiyana Martinez plays Pearl and Finley Leatherman plays her money-grubbing father, Mr. Krabs.
